The purpose of any recruitment and selection effort is to attract qualified candidates and to select the most competent individuals from this pool of candidates.

The recruitment process should sell the positive aspects of the organization, while giving prospective candidates enough of a realistic job preview so that they may self-select out of the recruitment process instead of deciding to quit later on, after they get hired. This process helps ensure that organizations attract highly qualified candidates who are more likely to fit with the organization’s vision, mission and culture.

The selection process should be such that hiring managers can make the most accurate decisions regarding which job candidates will yield the highest performance once hired.

HRSG has earned a leadership position in designing cost-effective recruitment and selection systems developed to attract and hire employees uniquely fitted to the requirements of the organization. HRSG’s IT division, E-Press Ink, has the expertise to develop web-based tools designed to support the recruitment and selection process.

Where do competencies fit in?

Competencies are used to improve both the recruitment and the selection process. Organizations that refer to a job’s competency requirements in their recruitment campaign offer employees a much more realistic job preview, helping ensure they attract employees with the right qualifications for the job. Competencies also play a crucial role in guiding the development of selection systems, such as interviews, tests and simulation, that accurately measure a job candidate’s qualifications for a given position.
